Welcome to brand X!

If you see this page, it's because it has been served by a server and you are browsing it in a browser.

There is an XMPP instant messaging server at this address, anrc.mooo.com. If you want to use it, you can.

Install a client and use it to create an account, or register online here. Then you'll have an address like user@anrc.mooo.com, and you can chat to anyone on any server, just like with email. For help choosing a client, see this page.

You should enable end-to-end encryption (OTR or OMEMO) so that your messages cannot be read by any third parties. Most current clients will do this for you without much trouble.

Chatrooms for group chat are available at chat.anrc.mooo.com. You can create and join them using your client.

You can send encrypted audio messages and images. File size limit is 10mb. You can also sync your messages across various devices.

NB: Encrypted video and audio calls were recently made available when using the excellent Conversations Android client. This server has been configured to work with such calls, but is as yet untested.

Logging is disabled except for when troubleshooting. Archives (for message sync) and file uploads expire from the server after 1 week. Client-to-server and server-to-server connections are encrypted.
